Drafts and sharing

Drafts stay in this browser. The share link holds your settings and text (no images) in the part of the address after #, which browsers don't send to any server.

Which Instagram sizes does it make?

    Three: 1080 × 1080 square, 1080 × 1350 portrait and 1080 × 1920 story, all at the exact pixel size Instagram recommends.

    Preset Pixels Aspect Best for
Instagram square 1080 × 1080 1:1 Feed posts and carousels that mix with square photos
Instagram portrait 1080 × 1350 4:5 Feed posts: tallest size the feed shows uncropped
Story / Reels 1080 × 1920 9:16 Stories, Reels covers, TikTok and YouTube Shorts

The post card is scaled to fit inside the frame with a margin of about 7 percent, then centered. A long post gets smaller rather than cropped. If the text ends up too small to read on a phone, shorten it or switch to the story size, which has the most vertical room.

How do I make a tweet-style Instagram post?

Write the post, pick a size under Download settings, choose a background in Advanced mode, then download.

    1. Fill in the profile and text as you would for any post.
    2. Under Download settings, choose Instagram square, Instagram portrait or Story.
    3. Switch to Advanced to choose the background: six gradients, a soft gray, night, paper, or any solid color.
    4. Download as PNG for the cleanest text, or JPG if you need a smaller file.

Instagram re-compresses everything you upload. PNG input with flat colors survives that compression with the fewest artifacts around text.

What makes these posts look good in the feed?

Big, short text and strong contrast between the card and the background.

    • Keep it under about 200 characters. On a 1080-pixel frame the card is drawn at roughly 1.6 times its normal size, so short posts read like a headline.
    • Use Lights out (black) or Dim on bright gradients, Light on darker ones.
    • Turn off images in the post unless they matter. A photo inside a card inside a feed is a lot of rectangles.
    • Show realistic numbers. A post with 412K views and 8.4K likes looks plausible; 99M likes on a tea shop looks like a joke, which is fine if it is one.

Can I post this on other platforms?

Yes: the square and portrait sizes fit Facebook, Threads and LinkedIn feeds, and the story size fits any vertical video app.

For LinkedIn link-post style images, the main generator also has a 1200 × 627 preset, and there's a 1280 × 720 YouTube thumbnail and a 1920 × 1080 slide size. See the main generator for all of them.

    Questions people ask

What size should an X post be for Instagram?

Use 1080 x 1350 (4:5 portrait) for the feed: it takes up the most screen space. 1080 x 1080 square works too. For Stories and Reels covers use 1080 x 1920 (9:16).

Why not just screenshot the post?

Screenshots carry your phone's status bar, other people's replies and odd crop sizes, and Instagram compresses them further. A generated card is drawn at the exact size, so text stays sharp after Instagram's compression.

Can I share a real person's post this way?

Rebuilding a real person's post word for word is still their content, so credit them and only share what they actually wrote. Never put words in a real person's mouth. The mockup label is there to help with that.

    Which background works best?

Pick one that contrasts with the post theme: a light post on the sunset or grape gradient, a dark post on paper or soft gray. Solid colors let you match brand colors exactly.
