What poll states can I show?
Three: open (buttons, no results), voted (results with your check and time left) and final (results with the winner in bold).
| State | What X shows | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Open | Outlined buttons for each choice, total votes, time left | Before voting, or for a post you haven't run yet |
| Voted | Bars with percentages, a check by your choice, time left | Showing how a poll is going |
| Final | Bars with percentages, winner in bold, "Final results" | Reporting an outcome |
How do I make the numbers believable?
Keep total votes in proportion to views and likes: a few percent of viewers vote in a typical poll.
The sample has 61.2K views and about 6K votes, roughly 10 percent, which is on the high side but plausible for a question people care about. Ten thousand votes on a post with 900 views looks fake to anyone who checks. If the mockup is for a lesson about manipulated polls, that mismatch is a useful thing to point out.
Can a poll have images or a quote?
On X a poll can't have images attached, but the generator lets you combine them if your design needs it.
X blocks media on poll posts and doesn't let you edit a poll after it goes live. If your mockup is meant to be realistic, leave images off and keep the text to a single question.
Questions people ask
How many options can an X poll have?
Two to four choices of up to 25 characters each. A poll can run from 5 minutes to 7 days, and the default is one day.
How are poll percentages rounded?
Each choice is rounded down, then the leftover points go to the choices with the largest remainders, so the total is always exactly 100 percent. With 1,840, 1,215, 2,290 and 611 votes you get 31, 20, 39 and 10.
Can I show a poll I voted in?
Yes. Choose Voted, results and pick Your vote. X shows a check next to the choice you picked while the poll is still running.
